Congratulations to the Smith-Bryan Chapter, NSDAR, for being selected the November Website of the Month!
This month we evaluated five websites. Yes, that’s a small number, but our judges were relieved to evaluate a smaller number since December can be extremely busy as you all know. To complete the judging for 2024, we will be receiving the websites for December 2024, and we hope to have those evaluated earlier so the winning chapter can report it on the 2024 CMR.
Personally, I commend every chapter who has created a website or updated a website during the Wright Administration. It involves so much time for those who are creating the sites, but a website can attract new members, and isn’t that one of our goals! When we show what our chapters are doing in serving our communities, other women will be interested in joining.
As we begin the 2025 year, please consider sharing what your chapter does by creating or updating your own website. You don’t have to do it alone. Your state’s VIS Chair and committee can get you started and advise you along the way. We also encourage you to go back through the Websites of the Month to get ideas for what would work for your chapter. No matter your size, you can show what you are doing as Daughters.
We are pleased to congratulate the Smith-Bryan Chapter, NSDAR, of Smithfield, North Carolina for being selected the November 2024 Website of the Month. Here are a few comments from our Public Relations & Media judges highlighting what they liked about the site, along with a few suggestions.
- This is a nice, clean, tidy site. It represents you in a simple, yet elegant style.
- Good job of keeping an up-to-date calendar of upcoming events and speakers.
- Nice listing of your chapter’s involvement, but add more pictures to show visitors. Be sure to emphasize the three mission areas of DAR: Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism.
- Enjoyed reading about your chapter’s name. This is always a way to interest visitors to the site.
- Your site is easy to navigate. It was a delight to view. So nice to see some color!
- Consider changing the font for your chapter’s name on the home page. It will look better with a font that is not all capitalized. You might consider enlarging the point sizes throughout to make everything easier to read.
- So nice to see the America 250! page, but since we can’t assume that everyone knows about this celebration, explain what the celebration is and tie in what you have currently done and your future plans.
- We like the contemporary feel of your site. Well done!
