November 13-17, 2023 is National Education Week, a time for all Americans to celebrate education and honor the women and men who are making a difference in our schools and learning communities every day. During the month of November, DAR members too can celebrate our commitment to education! Here are five easy and meaningful ways to support education through our DAR members and activities:
#1: Purchase the Wright Administration Community Classroom Pin: November is the perfect time to honor your favorite teacher, chapter/state award winner, homeschool co-op coordinator, or school board with a Wright Administration Community Classroom Pin (the first ever!) for only $30. Visit shop.dar.org/community-classroom-pin/ to purchase today. NEW this year, the Community Classroom Pin Challenge: States will be recognized with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place certificates for the most Community Classroom pins purchased (as verified by the DAR Store).
#2: Wear your Community Classroom pin while you volunteer: showcase DAR’s commitment to education by wearing your Community Classroom Pin While you make a difference in our communities. And don’t forget to use the Service to America Online Tally to report your Community Classroom service hours!
#3: Contribute to the Friends of Education Fund: Be a part of DAR's commitment to education by supporting the Friends of Education Fund, which supports education projects including Community Classroom Grants - in every neighborhood! Contact the Development Office today to learn more about how you can make a one time or recurring gift.
#4: Purchase the Friends of Education Pin: Members who donate $200 or more to the Friends of Education Fund are eligible to purchase and wear this beautiful pin on the official DAR Insignia ribbon! Visit https://shop.dar.org/friends-of-education/
#5: Sponsor an educator for a 2023-24 DAR American Revolution Legacy Grant: Connect a PreK-16 teacher/administrator with up to $5000, funded by the President General’s Project and the Friends of Education Fund! Applications for the 2023-24 grant program are open November 13, 2023 - March 1, 2024. Last year, DAR awarded $100,000 in DAR American Revolution Legacy Grants!
These graphics and ways to support our Education-focused mission. I encourage you to share with your state and chapter leaders and chapter Community Classroom Chairs. And don't forget to encourage your states to participate in the Community Classroom Pin Challenge for recognition this year during Continental Congress!
Thanks so much for all you do to support DAR's commitment to education in all of our communities!
