SOCIAL MEDIA SAFETY AND SECURITY
Social media platforms are constantly evolving, increasing the risk of misuse that can harm the integrity and reputation of our members, chapters, state societies, and NSDAR. Protecting the privacy, security, and reputation of individuals and the organization is a shared responsibility of social media administrators, chapter regents, state VIS, and state regents. Accounts may be cloned, hijacked, or hacked, and followers - including automated “bots” - may post inappropriate comments that escalate into harmful discussions. As these risks grow, so must our vigilance in safeguarding our members and DAR.
As DAR members, we use social media to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support education. But greater online presence means greater risk. A few smart practices can prevent big problems - keeping your Chapter’s online presence safe, strong, and respected. (See Social Media Security)
